Our first visit to Madison, and we picked a GEM of a place to have dinner. Chad, our server, was friendly and attentive, answering all of our questions and offering good suggestions. The salads (with their house-made dressings) were excellent, and the crab cake was really good. The lobster with creamy pesto (including pasta made that day) was incredible, as was the smoked duck breast. Even the iced tea was so good that my wife didn't need to put sugar in it! We were all too full for dessert, so Chad suggested that we start with dessert next time we visit - and then talked with us for a while about the history of the town. After the meal, Chef Andy came out and asked us how we enjoyed our meal - he was so kind and personable. This place has all the class of an upscale restaurant with the show and service to match - but they didn't mind that we showed up in jeans. It has an atmosphere that is more like someone was welcoming you into their home for an excellent home-cooked meal. A very unique experience, you don't want to miss out on this gem.
Shocked by the horrible experiences I have had with this "fine dining" establishment. I think the lack of fine dining restaurants in Madison have confused people into thinking this is a 5 star dining experience. If you're looking to vastly overspend on a meal fit for TGI Fridays, than this is the place for you. Select sides come out cold with a filet Mignon so dry you could use it to soak up your tears supplied by your decision to eat here (I've soaked up tears 3 times now). The waitress was the only redeeming quality about the restaurant. Save the money and heartbreaking experience by preparing a fine dining meal at home or simply go somewhere else. P.S. they also secretly watch you dine on their security cameras if you're into that type of thing.
Fabulous creations! The Chicken Marsala was truly delicious, service by Christina and the atmosphere made this an unforgettable evening. Last but not least, the best cheesecake we've ever tasted, topped with an amazing raspberry sauce!
Fantastic. The food was excellent. My father ordered the duck and it was the most tender duck I've ever tasted. The home made dressings are not only unique but incredible. I would advise trying as many as possible. I tried the house punch, which was very good but didn't seem to have much alcohol for a $10 or $12 drink. This is maybe one of the only places you could get home made pasta with lobster on top for $22. Anywhere else that would have been at least $10 more expensive. The chef came out to greet us and see how things were going. The staff was really friendly.
Always great food. Wish it was easier to get in to eat at the last minute. I would have ate there more. I think a lot of others would have too. I know several that haven't went back for that reason.
